STUDIOS opened the Washington office in 1986 after securing a project with one of DC’s largest law firms. Today, STUDIOS is located in an historic, renovated school building in the heart of DC’s Central Business District. The office has a reputation for being an industry leader in workplace design, but our numerous awards for base building design, innovative jewel-box projects and world-class office projects are a testament to our versatility.
In addition to architecture and interior design, STUDIOS is also a leader in workplace strategy, which employs innovative methodologies and research tools to examine an organization’s unique needs and challenges in defining their physical space. This expertise led the way to such projects as the interior renovation of the Pentagon, as well as consulting work for the U.S. General Services Administration that helps define the future of government workspace. Today, STUDIOS’ Washington office has a diverse client base, including Local, Federal and foreign governments, law firms, financial firms, educational institutions, media, tech and innovative corporations such as E*Trade and XM Satellite Radio. A major advocate for sustainability, the office has designed living buildings, carbon-neutral retrofits, and LEED certified projects of all levels.
